Happy Halloween!!!

Well alot of people have been asking if they celebrate Halloween here.  They do kind of but they do it Mexican style, or in other words instead of it just being one day, it’s three days haha.  Starting today little kids go trick or treating until the 2nd which is the day of the dead here in Mexico. It’s kind of sketchy trick or treating here but alot of kids in the colonies with more money quite a few people go trick or treating.  Last year all day we pretty much knocked doors which we found was pretty ineffective, so yesterday we planned a family night with the Estrada Family tonight.  The only thing is that last night in our weekly meeting Pres. Del Valle told me that he wanted me to go to Aguascalientes tonight to do divisiones so I guess Elder Cruz will just take another missionary to the FHE.  It was a really good week for the Estrada family though, they’ve been having some pretty strong problems lately but they realized the importance of going to church after they didn’t go for 3 weeks and starting having problems.  I’m confident though that they’ll soon be able to stand alone and will become strong members in the church.  As well this week we saw some progress in Rocio (the daughter of a member that is a doctor) we put a baptismal date with her for next Saturday and she is really progressing alot right now.   Also we are teaching this kid named Angel that is 20.  He went to church with a member that he works with last week and we were able to teach him a few lessons and take him to a baptism that some other missionaries had.  He was supposed to work yesterday though and wasn’t going to be able to go to church but we invited him Saturday night to talk to his boss to try and come to church.  And to our surprise on Sunday we walked in and there he was with a nice button up shirt.  He also has a baptismal date for next Saturday but has had a pretty hard life so we’ll see if he can be ready for his date.  We are still looking really hard for more people to teach.  Ericka and Catalina never let us in again so that was kind of sad but we are confident that there is a family waiting to accept the gospel and that they’ll be put in our path.  This week should be pretty busy for us though as we have the zone leader conference and we’ll be doing divisions in Aguascalientes and Celaya with the zones there.  I have really learned to enjoy the opportunity to work with many different elders in the mission though so I’m looking forward to it.  Well that’s about all I have for this week, 

This week I have been studying the New Testament going through it chronological and was amazed about the story about John the Baptist.  He literally dedicated everything in his life to the Lord and bore the strongest but simple testimony Juan 1:34 “And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.........  A testimony really isn’t something that has to be complicated; it’s the heart that’s put into the testimony that gives it the power.” Personally I have prayed and received a testimony that Jesus in the Christ and his gospel has been restored by a prophet of God in our days.  This knowledge is free to all we just have to do as Matthew says, "ask and ye shall receive, knock and it shall be opened unto thee"
