Adventures in Aguascalientes

Well Halloween wasn’t too exciting here for us haha.  We really didn’t do anything too cool.  Like I said though I went up to Aguascalientes to go on splits with Elder Soto a zone leader up there and his companion Elder Schmit came down here with my companion.  I had quite the experience with Elder Soto though haha.  Tuesday went pretty normal until we went to visit this family they are teaching that lives like 20 miles outside of the city.  We had to a take a bus to get out there and we got off in the middle of nowhere.  We started walking up this dirt road when Elder Soto tells me that no matter what happens not to run and not to look back just to keep walking.  Of course that kind of freaked me out a little bit so I asked why and he told me that there were some big dogs that were always on the road up to the house.  I figured he was kidding though because earlier in the day he tried to scare me by grabbing the back of my like as if a dog were biting me.  We kept walking though and just as he said some giant half German Shepard half who knows what ran up out of nowhere and started following us really closely and then a little ways up a huge bull mastiff, that had some serious blood shot eyes came running at us.  That was probably the scariest moment of my life haha.  I did what my companion said though and just kept walking and the bull mastiff kept hitting us in the back of the legs with its nose to see if we’d do anything.  We didn’t end up dying though which was a relief.  The worst part though was that the family wasn’t even there which meant that we were going to have to go back past the dogs.  That was something neither of us wanted to do so we decided to wait a few minutes to see if they’d show up.  The problem though was that the sun was slowly going down but finally a nearby family walked by (all of them had machetes from the kids up to the grandma haha) and one of them showed us a path back where we didn’t have to walk by the guard dogs.  Anyways, we got back to the highway and just waited for a bus to take us back but there weren’t any passing by so we started walking up the highway until we found a motel a little ways up the highway.  By then it was totally dark and we were getting a little worried (the side of the highway in Mexico is not a good place to be at night) so we said a prayer that we would find a way to get home.  Like a minute after the prayer, a little "Convi" stopped and we were able to get back.  So that was definitely the most interesting story of the week.  The cool thing is that while all this was going on, Elder Cruz was here in Leon working and visited a reference from a sister in the ward and they are way awesome!!  It’s this lady, her 18 year old son and the cousin of the sister.  They are all super ready to change and to do what they need to to get baptized so that is definitely a miracle from God.  This week we only saw Rocio once and she went to church again but said she didn’t like it (fast and testimony meetings get weird here sometimes haha) so I don’t know if she’ll be getting baptized this week.  Angel as well didn’t go to church for some reason so we are going to try and find him either tonight or tomorrow to see what happened.  It’s kind of crazy I’m going to have 6 months here in Leon pretty soon.  Who knows if I’ll get transferred, president still hasn’t told be anything.  But other than that things are going pretty good here for us.  Just working hard and letting the Lord do the rest.  

2 Peter 3: 17-18  17-Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. 18- But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

The president shared this scripture with us in the zone leaders counsel meeting this week.  He said that so that we don’t fall away we constantly need to learn about Christ and about his atonement.  If we do that we will be aware of the need to pray always, read the scriptures daily, and go to church every week so we won’t fall into temptation.  I’ve learned that every one of us needs to have a personal relationship to the Savior and that in doing so; we will always be able to feel his love.
