Hola ya'll... well this again was another awesome week here in San Luis. We had some awesome experiences and are really seeing alot of progress in our investigators. We planned on having 8 baptisms last week but one of the families asked for another week so that they could be more ready and another family ended up going out of town so we only got 1 baptism this last week. It was a cool baptism though. Her name is Paula and is actually the mom of the family that went on vacation but she asked us if she could get baptized before she left. So we had a nice simple baptism on my year mark in the mission haha. It was actually pretty difficult though because the pump that drains the baptismal font is broken so we got to the church on Thursday to fill up the font and we ended up having to drain it with buckets. So that was some work but we got it done pretty fast. First of all I’ll tell about how we found her family though. They are actually a reference from a different ward here in San Luis. Apparently the husband and wife were having some marriage problems and were separated for a while and the husband was living on the other side of the city. Somehow he ended up meeting the missionaries that were in the area there and they starting teaching him and he absolutely loved everything and was about to be baptized but didn’t pass the interview. During the process of meeting with the missionaries though he changed alot of things in his life and started talking to his wife again. When we received the reference though, the member that called us didn’t know if they were living together yet again so we had to call him before we went and visited them. So we called him for a couple of days but couldn’t get a hold of him but then during a lesson I just had this feeling that we needed to go visit him. So we went to the address and found that the whole family was their including the husband. We started talking to them and taught the restoration and the loved it. They also told us that right before we showed up they were having a little argument about religion because the religious background of the family was pretty crazy. Apparently he grew up catholic but she grew up in the Jehovah’s Witness church and they have never been able to figure out what they should do with their kids as far as religion goes. But she told us that during the lesson she really felt good and wanted to keep learning about our church. So we went back again and challenged her and her 2 daughters to get baptized but they were really unsure about it because it seemed so soon. So we made a "goal" to baptize them the 26th and they were fine with that. So to make a long story short they went to church and absolutely loved it. After church she told me that she really wanted to get baptized and was sure that it was the thing that she needed to do. So she got baptized this last week which was really awesome. Also, her 2 daughters are going to get baptized on Friday and we are still trying to see when we will be able to baptize Alfredo. Hopefully we find out soon. Another boy, Diego, who is 11, is going to get baptized on Friday as well. He is the son of a less active man who just started to go to church again and his wife is also progressing and has been to church twice. Also, on Saturday we are going to baptize 4 more. This is also a really cool family that is also a reference from a different ward. They are the Mom Mauricia, a daughter Olivia (22 years old), a son Jesus (20 years old), and a daughter Miriam (17 years old) and are also just another really awesome family. Right now the father is in Texas working but we are hoping to meet him in April when he comes to visit. But it’s really cool because their cousin is serving a mission right now in Monterrey. But again this week in church we had 12 people and 4 of them went for the first time. One of them, Martha, is an older lady that we found on Saturday and all we did was teach the importance of the Sabbath day to her and she showed up by herself and another family also came for the first time, Claudia with her 2 sons. They totally escaped on us though after sacrament meeting haha. They said they were going to go use the restroom but apparently they took off and went home so we are going to have to see what happened with them. This upcoming week should be pretty crazy though as we are going to go to the offices in Leon tomorrow for zone leaders council and we’ll come back Wednesday, get some interviews done Thursday, baptize Friday, then after the baptism more interviews, and the baptism on Saturday. Yep, I love the mission :)
Scripture of the week- 2 Nephi 25:26 “And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.” We had a lesson in priesthood yesterday on the importance of teaching our children and this scripture really stood out to me. Parents need to always talk about Christ and be centered in him so that the children know who they need to turn to be saved.

One Year! February 24, 2011
It has sure been an awesome year in the mission. Things i have learned:
1. Don´t flush food down toilets
2. Don´t leave things on busses because lost and found does not exist down here
3. Check your bed for scorpions before you get in
4. Believe the expiration date on milk
5. Mexican mail is ridiculously unreliable
6. The church is true!
