Oh Yeah!

Hola familia. Hopefully you all aren’t sick from eating too much candy Saturday haha. Just one random thought. I’m so glad we live a place that celebrates Halloween on Saturday when it’s on Sunday. But yeah these next 2 days the kids don’t have school here because they are celebrating what they call the day of the dead which is where they go to the graves of there loved ones and put their favorite food. Apparently if you taste the chili in the food after, it doesn’t have any flavor because the spirits of the dead ate it. So that is kind of an interesting tradition. But this week we ended up getting one more of the people baptized that we have been working with. We baptized the friend of the lady that was baptized last week. We’re still working to get Ricardo and his wife Monoca baptized this week. They still don’t feel like their prayers have been answered so we could use some prayers for them. We also started working with this other family that is really big. They couldn’t go to church this week because the dad has heart problems and had to go to the hospital. But we went over after church and they seem pretty animated to go next week. The mom really wants to find a way to help her children make good decisions and thinks that our church can do that for her. Something else really cool this week is we finally changed houses today :) Now we live in colony Vistas de Sauz street Ramiro #407 just in case you wanted to google earth it. But our old house was pretty run down. I don’t know if you know, but in Mexico the water system is a little bit different than in the states. Water only comes from the street (from the city) a couple times a week so what they do is they have big reserve tanks under their houses and they pump water from that into tanks on top of their houses so they can have water pressure. well in the old house, the instrument that stopped the water from pumping into the tank on top when it was full was broken. So we’d have to turn it on in the morning and then just guess when we figured it was full. When we guessed wrong, water would just pour out from the tank on top and spill all over the side of the house and also into the neighbor’s yard. That and there was alot of stuff that was just broken from over the years. Our new house actually has an oven though so we’re going to make us cookies or something good like that haha. Another cool thing that happened we were riding in a taxi the other day (taxis are way cheap here by the way they are only like $5) and the taxi driver asked if we used the holy bible. I told him that we did and he said that someone had left a bible in his car earlier and that it didn’t have a name or address so he was just going to sell it. I offered him $5 for it and he agreed so now I have a sweet little small bible that is the same one that the church uses in Spanish. So looks like I won’t get as tired anymore dragging around my bible haha. I can’t really think of much else that happened this week though so here’s the scripture of the week. Alma 36:30 “But behold, my son, this is not all; for ye ought to know as I do know, that inasmuch as ye shall keep the commandments of God ye shall prosper in the land; and ye ought to know also, that inasmuch as ye will not keep the commandments of God ye shall be cut off from his presence. Now this is according to his word” talks about that the degree that we keep the commandments, is the degree that God is going to bless us. This is important to remember because alot of people think that we just need to keep some of the commandments and that all of them aren’t important. If this is the case, it’s logical that God will only bless us with some of the things that we need because apparently we don’t need all of his blessings. So anyways it’s important that we’re obedient so God will bless us!! But anyways love you all, this church is true and there ain´t no denying it ;)
