Hola Familia!

Dear family,
Well this week hasn’t been the most exciting week that we have had haha. We’ve been working hard, but like some prophet said sometimes you have to be patient waiting for the success. Haha so we’re being patient. We had a family that was supposed to come to church with us but apparently a cousin got sick and they had to go to the hospital. So that was a bummer. But we found 2 people that seem really cool when we were knocking doors yesterday. They just moved houses and have a newborn baby. They seem pretty interested so far, so we’ll see how this next week goes with them. But the 2 people we baptized a couple of weeks ago are really going strong still. We’re still struggling trying to get Ricardo and his wife to get their answers. But they haven’t gone to church for 2 weeks so we are starting to worry about them. I think most of the issues are that she is really influenced by her family and they say alot of stuff about the Mormon church so we’ve been trying to answer alot of doubts. But we’re still chugging along haha. We’re actually learning alot. I’ve found that when you really don’t have a choice but to learn, you learn faster. This has really been a fun change though. Both me and my companion don’t really know what we’re doing in a sense as that we don’t have too much experience so we’ve had to learn to follow the Spirit more. One thing that happened this week is that was kind of interesting was that we were knocking some door and there was a dog sitting in front of a house. I’ve come to learn that it is best to befriend the dogs here before you knock on the door so it looked pretty nice but I went to pet it and at the last second it decided to bite my hand off. Luckily I have reflexes like a cat so it didn’t get me but I guess I jumped like 5 feet in the air haha. There are so many dogs here it is ridiculous. But as of yet I still haven’t gotten bitten. One thing that is different is that most of the people here don’t really have yards but most people have dogs so what they do is just keep them up on their roof (all the roofs are flat here). So what the dogs do is sit there and bark at us all the time. I think we must look like the mail man or something because the dogs just love to bark at us. There is this funny little dog that lives over by us and every day it just barks like crazy at us. We figured it was like most of the dogs here that are all bark and no bite so Elder Smith decided to test it. We were walking by and he went and just started running at it. The brave little thing did not flinch at all though and tried to bite him. The funny part about this dog though is it is like a little Chihuahua thing haha. Another thing is that it is actually a little cold now. It only probably gets to like 60 degrees but it feels cold compared to how it usually is haha. Everyone here walks around in big winter coats haha. They probably thing we are pretty crazy because we still are just wearing short sleeve shirts.

Scripture of the week. Jacob 4:13 “Behold, my brethren, he that prophesieth, let him prophesy to the understanding of men; for the Spirit speaketh the truth and lieth not. Wherefore, it speaketh of things as they really are, and of things as they really will be; wherefore, these things are manifested unto us plainly, for the salvation of our souls. But behold, we are not witnesses alone in these things; for God also spake them unto prophets of old”. (This scripture) talks about how the Spirit doesn’t lie and it tells the things how they are. This scripture is 100% correct and is something we try to teach people. Alot of people don’t recognize answers from the spirit because they expect something grand and spectacular. But the Spirit is manifested in our hearts by our feelings. If it feels right or you feel peaceful, often this is the spirit manifesting itself. The spirit is real and really does help us do what we need to do. All we need to do is listen to it and do what it says. This church is true and nothing anyone could say could change that.
