¡Hola familia mia! How goes everything in good old Idaho? Sounds like quite the party you had! This week has been a tiring one for sure. One of the families in which we baptized part of the family, was adding another story onto their house because there are like 12 people that live there. We offered to help because the father has health problems and can’t do too much hard labor. So anyways... we did that for the better part of about 2 days. And let me tell you, construction is a lot different here than it is in the states. It’s all pure brick and cement. It’s interesting how they do their cement too. They put a big pile of sand on the ground, put gravel on top of that, and then put the cement powder around the outside and slowly mix it together. They put this big pile on the neighbor’s roof which shows how tough these houses are. Anyways though, all in all, we carried around 2 tons of sand and between a half ton of to a ton of gravel up this little metal stairs to the 3rd floor of the house. We also had a little pulley with a bucket we were using and I have some pretty good blisters from the rope. But anyways we were all pretty sore after this little project. Saturday though, we knocked quite a few doors and taught this lesson to this lady just outside her door and she had this pet baby parrot that kept trying to escape so I ended up having to hold it so the lady could concentrate on our lesson, The stupid bird though decided it would use the bathroom all over my hand. So that was pretty interesting trying to show any emotion while my comp was teaching about the Book of Mormon. This week was pretty tough to get people to go to church because I don’t know if you know, but the world cup is going on right now and Mexico just happened to play Argentina during the middle of church. They lost though so they are out of the tournament so we won’t have to worry about that one anymore. We did end up getting this lady and her daughter to church though so we should be able to get them baptized next week. Yesterday, we went to Guanajuato to help out that area and also to do baptismal interviews and at one of the houses, the brother made some homemade salsa and let me tell you that was some pretty hot stuff. There were 2 Mexican missionaries with me too and they were dying as well so I don’t feel too bad.
I forgot to bring my scriptures with me but a scripture that jumped out at me this morning was in James and it was either chapter 3 or 4 but it said something to the effect that it doesn’t matter if we just believe in God and Christ. The devil and his angels believe in him as well. All that matters is our works. Faith without works is dead. That’s one scripture we use alot when we are teaching. Alot of people believe that if they just believe in Christ, they’ll be saved but we’re only saved through our works that show our faith. Anyways I love you all!
