6 Months!

Wow! Another week gone makes a grand total of 18 months in the mission.  Wow I can’t even believe how fast it is going.  Like Bryce said in his letter I’m pretty scared how fast it is going.  But I guess all you can do is enjoy every minute of it and work so that you don’t have any regrets at the end.  It was a good week though and Jesus, Maria, and Javier were all able to get baptized.  They were definitely chosen by God to accept the gospel and all are super strong.  Their baptismal service was really special and the room was totally full which is always good.  Jesus’ son and family went to the baptism as well and they gave him a Book of Mormon so hopefully he will accept the gospel as well.  The only thing is he doesn’t live in our ward so the secretaries will be teaching him.  Something else with Jesus and his family is that they make and sell a type of traditional food called menudo which is basically chopped and boiled pieces of cow stomach put into a stew with spices.  So that is what we ate yesterday after church.  It’s one of the weirder things that they eat down here haha. 

This week we also were able to find quite a few new ones that are pretty solid.  We received a reference from an elder from a different ward that was the mom and grandma of some recent converts from his ward.  The son is actually serving as a six week "summer mission" in San Luis Potosi.  But we went and visited her and at first we couldn’t find her but then I asked some ladies that were selling stuff across the street and they told me that she was around the corner.  Finally we found her and were able to teach her.  It was pretty awesome though because we were actually in a trio with a missionary that is going home tomorrow but he knew the lady from when he was in the other ward where her family members live.  Long story made short, she is awesome!! The first lesson she accepted a baptismal date for the 10th and her grandson is going to come home to baptize her.  Then, a few days later we brought a member with us to teach her and it just turns out that they lived like 5 houses away from each other when the member was a little girl.  Coincidence? Nope! It’s just the hand of the Lord is his work.  Then (yep it gets better)  we met her husband and he is also really cool.  Before, they didn’t get along very well.  They live together but apart from each other at the same time but they both went to church with us and were there holding hands and looking super happy and apparently they both loved it.  So yep, another miracle of the Lord here in Arbide.  As well, on Wednesday we were riding the "caterpillar" with is like a really long accordion bus and I contacted this guy named Fabian.  We talked for quite a while and he told me he wanted us to visit him.  We the next day we called the phone number he gave me but his dad answered the phone and he made it sound like his son didn’t want anything.  We were a little disappointed but then on Friday night, everything fell through so we went and just showed up at his house and Fabian invited us in and told us that he wanted to change is life because his relationship wasn’t good with his wife.  Then his wife came in and she said that as well she wanted our help so we taught a quick lesson about the atonement and the family and left them a pamphlet of the family with the assignment to read it as a family and pray as a family.  They accepted everything really well and accepted the invitation to go to church on Sunday and the best part is they did! They said they liked it alot and even knew quite a few of the members that were there. We are going to visit them tonight so we’re hoping it goes well.   It was a really good week though.  I still don’t have a new companion though so it looks likes my comp. is going leave in 2 weeks and that day my new comp. will come so that should be interesting haha.

This morning we got permission from president to watch a movie called "facing the giants" which is about a football team at a Christian high school.  A scripture that the coach shared in the movie really impacted me and is in Matt. 19:26-26 “But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.”  This is really true with so many things in life.  We just can’t do it alone, but we can if and only if we God is involved.  As we come closer to Christ we can always see his hand in our life and there will be no impossibilities.
