14 Months!

Wow I can hardly believe that I have 14 months. For some reason that sounds like a lot of time and it doesn’t feel like I should have a number that big yet haha. But this has been another awesome week for us here in Prados. We were both pretty worried because we hadn’t baptized yet in the month so the whole week we were praying for a miracle so that we wouldn’t finish the month with 0. We had a couple of possibilities but none of them were ready to be baptized yet so we were thinking that we weren’t going to be able to baptize anyone. But we really had a miracle happen on Friday. We had visited a member on Thursday that was going to go to the temple that day to take out her endowment. She is a convert of about a year and has a really strong testimony. She is one of the most faithful members in the ward and really has been tried ever since she was baptized. She has been robbed, threatened, diagnosed with diabetes and about 2 weeks ago was diagnosed with breast cancer. Anyways she has always told us that she wanted her husband to get baptized. He has been to church many times before but he is never at home because he is a truck driver. I thought it was hard being a truck driver in the U.S. but it is a lot worse here. they don’t have laws about how much someone can drive in a day and this guy is working like all the time and is probably about 60 years old and his name is Sebastian Veloz. As well when he is home he comes home for a few hours and then takes off again. But, this member lady told us that he was going to be home the next day and said we could stop by with him. So Friday we stopped by to visit him. We had visited with him before at church and talked to him about baptism but we never really had the opportunity to really teach him. We started teaching him the first lesson and he pretty much knew it all because we had given him all the lesson pamphlets and he also is about down reading the book of Mormon. We then started talking about baptism and we felt like we should invite him to be baptized that Sunday. So we did and he agreed. We had to go to lunch but right after we came back and taught him the rest of the lessons, he was interviewed on Saturday and then right after church on Sunday he was baptized and confirmed. So wow he was definitely one of the most prepared people I have ever met. I really feel like we didn’t have to do anything. I love the Spirit haha. It just goes to show that if you do what you should God will prepare people for you to find.

Thursday we had a zone conference where the president introduced to us a new program for training new missionaries. It is a really awesome program that I’m pretty sure is world wide but it includes better studying and more focus on relying on the Spirit. It really got me hoping that to have the opportunity to train. But after the conference we went and worked with one of the assistants for a while, Elder Martinez, so that is always fun. We had a really interesting finding opportunity as well. We went to a different ward building to meet up with the president at the end of the day but they were running late so we were sitting there waiting. We didn’t have keys to the church and I really had to use the facilities if you catch my drift haha. We were lucky though and were in Elder Martinez’s old area so he knew some members close by. We went to a less active family’s house and while we were there we just happened to meet the daughter of the lady that just happens to live in our area and just happens to have a husband who isn’t a member and 2 kids who aren’t baptized. We taught them on Saturday and they are an awesome family. The husband had to work yesterday and the kids didn’t get up on time but the mom went after years of being inactive. As well we helped 2 complete families go back to church after being inactive for quite some time. So yeah it was a sweet week :)

John 14:15 I talked in church as well on being obedient. When we are in front of God on judgment day our excuses are not going to help us out. Like Nike says, Just do it haha
