Cambios!

Well as usual, the transfers brought some surprises for us haha. I’m still in Jesus Maria with Elder Sanchez but my area just doubled haha. They ended up closing the other area in our ward that Elder Preece was in so now our area is absolutely huge haha. We just inherited alot more work as well which is good. Last night when we heard the changes, Elder Sanchez and I started brainstorming on how we are going to manage to do this because we have alot of people in our area and Elder Preece left alot of work in his area. We brought 4 people to church yesterday and he brought 3 and had 2 baptisms yesterday so we are going to have to learn how to plan really effectively so we can help these people continue in the church and those that didn’t get baptized to get baptized. So these next couple of weeks could really get interesting haha. What we are thinking of doing is going on divisions with brothers in the ward so we can make this possible.
This past week went well for us though; we were looking at our numbers for the past couple of weeks last Sunday and noticed that as a zone, we really haven’t been focusing on committing people to baptism. So we decided to try and center our focus more on committing people to baptism. What we started doing as a companionship was inviting everyone to get baptized while teaching the plan of salvation. We taught that in order to get to the celestial kingdom, we had to live the gospel of Jesus Christ which is faith, repentance, baptism, receiving the Holy Ghost and enduring to the end. So we made alot of baptismal invitations and 9 people said yes which was pretty cool. One little family that agreed was going to go to church with us but the little kids ended getting sick so only the father could come. We found out though that they aren’t married and his wife is married to someone else that won’t sign divorce papers so I might be a little complicated getting them baptized. The other 3 people who came are part of a part member family and seem really good. One of the ladies was going to get baptized about 8 months ago but at the last second decided not to. So we are going to work on putting baptismal dates with them this upcoming week. Well that is about all I’ve got for this week. The work is sure going good down here and we are really seeing the Lord’s hand in leading us to the people that need His gospel.

For the spiritual thought of the week, I just want to share my testimony about the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. I know without a doubt that this book is a true book and there is absolutely no way it could be false like Elder Holland said in his talk about it "No evil man could write it, and no good man would" We can really know that all these things are true if we just humble ourselves and read it, ponder about it, and pray about. This is a promise from God and He has to make good on his promises. I have come to love this book and all it does for people and this is the testimony I have of the Book of Mormon which I share in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

p.s. Silvia received her patriarchal blessing yesterday and is going to the temple in Guadalajara on Saturday to do baptisms for the dead!
